The Printing Trade
The list of materials we collect from the printing trade is extensive, and includes every conceivable product used by printers. The liquid wastes include fixers, developers, plate developers (treatment unit available), gums, inks, paints, solvents, emulsions, stabilisers and fount solutions. Where products have a value in excess of the cost of recycling, we can often return a sum to our customers. This can either be used to offset the cost of collecting other wastes or it can provide a welcome influx into a customer’s cash flow.

Envirometal collects both items usually in the supply containers i.e. 25 Litre & 125 Litre clip top drums. The waste is transported to either our Kidderminster or Kent processing facilities.
Water is extracted leaving just 5% non-recyclable solid to go to landfill. The remaining 95% water can then be re-used and is returned to the relevant water course.
Envirometal is able to provide lockable cages for the storage of waste litho plates. By using certified digital beam scales at our factories we are able to calculate the weight and payment on the day of collection. Any credits can be used to help offset any chemical charges incurred on the day of collection.
Once transported to our sites the plates are weighed & bundled onto pallets of >.2 Tonne. All aluminium is melted down and can be re-used as a pure raw material.
Collected, stored and decanted. Silver is reclaimed in recovery plant and Silver Flake is passed on to Silver recycling process. 50% spent fluid to pH Adjustment. Hazardous components are converted into an inert sludge and non-hazardous liquid.

Collected from customers in 125L or 205L drums, all empty cartridges are pierced and decanted and are sent for metal recycling, full or part full aerosols are currently sent to special waste landfill.

Envirometal can also offer bespoke chemical waste installations which allows the waste to be pumped direct from the press to bulk storage tanks located outside the main building. Also included are proven chemical resistant submersible pumps, a range of bunded storage tanks, fully operational alarm level detection system and class(E)upvc pipework fittings & fixtures.
Flammable portion can be used as fuel to start blast furnaces, or as a low grade fuel. Toxic oil based Inks are put through a Solidification treatment process to produce low-strength cementation. The resultant Solidified waste is treated to make it safe for final disposal and is disposed of through ‘Special waste Landfill’.

Envirometal provide a range of equipment to help with the storage of waste Ink. For the waste Ink sludge we provide 205L steel clip top drums with a clear descriptive label, also available are purpose built funnels made partly from recycled plastic barrels. For empty packaging or full Ink Tubs, Envirometal can supply cages with optional purpose made lid.
