Environmental Policy Statement
Our site fully supports the commitment of Betts Envirometal Ltd to achieving the highest standards with regards to environmental matters arising out of our activities.
It is the intention of this site to be at the forefront of our industry. An integral element of this sensitivity to environmental issues is that it may affect not only our employees but also our neighbours.
When determining priorities for the allocation of resources, environmental objectives shall be given equal consideration with all other site objectives.
All managers, supervisors and employees have duties and responsibilities under this policy, and in order to ensure these are met, regular reviews of environmental performance will be carried out.
Aims of the policy
As a leading company at the forefront of technological innovation, Betts Envirometal Ltd recognises that protection of the environment requires industrial activity to be conducted in a sustainable manner. The operating divisions of Betts Envirometal Ltd are fully committed to best environmental practice and each division takes responsibility for its own environmental performance.
Betts Envirometal Ltd has acknowledged these responsibilities by publishing a health safety and environmental policy. Our site is committed to implementing the actions stated in the divisional policy. In order to achieve this objective, our site is;
- Establishing health, safety and environmental policies for which the Managing Director has ultimate responsibility and which forms part of the site’s business plans
- Developing a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS), which ensures compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice and any other standards to which the company subscribes. The site is also committed to the prevention of pollution. The EMS will evaluate the site’s environmental impacts resulting in setting of clear objectives with the aim of establishing continual improvement in environmental performance. This site’s overall performance will be monitored by regular audits and annual reviews.

Policy objectives
The EMS will develop over time so that all key issues pertinent to the site will be addressed. Initially the EMS will pay close attention to the following policy objectives;
- Minimise the environmental impacts of our existing processes/activities and ensure that the implications of new processes are fully assessed prior to their introduction
- Effectively manage and control our authorised processes
- Dispose of waste and effluents in a responsible and safe manner
- Reduce the likelihood of environmental accidents and incidents through the use of risk assessments and action planning
- Promote ownership and control of environmental issues at business level
- Provide the necessary training and support in order to ensure that the site can fulfil the requirements outlined in this policy
- Introduce programmes that aim to minimise risk
- Minimise energy use through effective energy management
Quality Policy
The continuing policy of Betts Envirometal Ltd is to provide a professional and efficient service to meet all of the agreed requirements of our customers. This achievement will result in securing efficiency and the enhancement of long-term profitability.
The Management Team bears the responsibility for establishing, maintaining and implementing the system for controlling those particular activities for which they are responsible. We undertake to ensure through instruction, practical example and training that quality is the aim of all members of the Organisation and that each employee has a proper understanding of the importance of the quality system function and its direct relevance to the success of the Organisation.
Equally every employee is responsible for, and will be trained to perform the duties required by his or her specific role. Further, the Organisation will ensure that any sub-contractors employed for a particular function will meet specified requirements and will accept the responsibility for their work.
The organisation has a policy of continual improvement in line with the conditions laid down in ISO 9001:2000.
We hereby certify that this Quality Assurance Manual and Standard Operating Procedures Manual accurately describes the Quality System in use within the Organisation to meet the requirements of 9001:2000
The Quality System will be monitored regularly under the Top Management’s ultimate responsibility with regular reporting of the status and effectiveness at all levels.
